Prior to becoming an artist, Judy pursued a career as an outside sales representative with a major corporation but following a family move to the Houston area her direction was altered.
Always being interested in artistic pursuits when young, the move enabled her to pursue her career as a painter.
In order to develop her talent and hone skills, she has taken workshops with numerous renowned workshop instructors in addition to studying the work of masters Richard Schmid, John Singer Sargent, and John William Waterhouse. She has taught workshops both in Texas and abroad.
“I paint mostly from life, setting up and creating my compositions in my studio or painting plein air. Recently, I’ve become more interested in figurative works and portraiture and have been commissioned to create illustrative book cover paintings for a “Women of the Bible” book series.”
Judy has been featured or included in national publications such as Southwest Art Magazine’s “Collector’s Choice”, American Art Collector, International Artists Magazine in addition to being spotlighted in the Houston Chronicle.
Recent Awards include the Award of Excellence at Oil Painters of America Western Regional Exhibition among many others. Professional affiliations include Oil Painters of America, American Impressionists Society, American Artists Professional League of New York and American Women Artists Association of which she is a master signature member.
